RAR

RAR is a free, closed-source packing tool to create .rar archives on Unix-like systems. It is the developer's1) packing pendant to the widespread Windows application WinRAR.

Installation

Ubuntu

9.10 Karmic and above

Simply install the following package(s):

  • rar (multiverse)

The GNOME archive manager file-roller detects an installed rar. Therefore you don't need to compress files via terminal, you can use the common GUI.
